How we collect, use, and protect your personal data

Last updated: 12th July 2026

1. Who We Are

BroadbandFind.co.uk ("BroadbandFind", "we", "us", "our") is a broadband comparison and information website operated in the United Kingdom. We help consumers find, compare, and understand broadband deals from a range of UK providers.

For the purposes of UK data protection law, BroadbandFind is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at: privacy@broadbandfind.co.uk

2. What Data We Collect

2.1 Data You Provide Directly

  1. Contact form submissions (name, email address, message content)
  2. Provider review and rating submissions (an optional display name, email address, review text, rating scores, optional review text, and (entirely optionally) your postcode. We do not ask for your email address to leave a review
  3. Questions and Q&A submissions
  4. Newsletter sign-up details (email address)
  5. Broadband speed test data (the provider you select and the postcode you enter) submitted with your test so results can be compared with others in your area
  6. Savings and coverage checks (the monthly cost, provider, speed, contract details and/or postcode you enter) to run a comparison or availability check
  7. Location Data
  8. Several of our tools use your postcode to give you relevant, local results:
  9. Coverage checker your postcode is sent to Ofcom's availability service to return the broadband speeds predicted for your area. We display only aggregated, postcode-level statistics and do not show or store individual address records.
  10. Speed test your postcode is stored with your test result so we can build area speed comparisons.
  11. Reviews if you choose to add a postcode, we store only the outward district (e.g. "SG5"), never your full postcode or address.
  12. Use my location where you actively choose this option, your browser asks your permission to share your approximate location, which we convert to a postcode using a third-party lookup service (see Section 5). We never access your location without you clicking this button and granting permission.

2.3 Data Collected Automatically

  1. IP address and approximate geographic location (country/region level)
  2. Browser type, device type, and operating system
  3. Pages visited, time on site, and referring URLs
  4. Broadband speed test measurements (download/upload speed, latency, packet loss)
  5. Outbound clicks on deal links (which link, the referring page, and browser type used to understand which deals are useful)
  6. Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see our Cookie Policy)

A note on IP addresses; where we use your IP address to prevent spam and duplicate submissions (for example, in reviews and the speed test), we store it only as a salted, one-way cryptographic hash - we do not keep your raw IP address in these records.

2.4 Data from Third Parties

  1. Affiliate network Partner(s): when you click through to a provider and make a qualifying purchase, we receive confirmation that a commission is due. We do not receive your payment details or personal account information (see Section 3.2).
  2. Analytics providers: aggregated usage statistics

3. How We Use Your Data

3.1 Legitimate Business Purposes

3.2 Affiliate Tracking

Some deal links on BroadbandFind are affiliate links. When you click one, you may be redirected via an affiliate network before reaching the provider. The network may set a cookie on your device to record whether a qualifying purchase is made, which allows us to receive a commission from the provider. This process is subject to that network's own privacy policy. We do not receive your payment information or personal details from providers as part of this process, and using affiliate links never changes the price you pay.

3.3 Legal Bases (UK GDPR)
