Source: Ofcom UK Home Broadband Performance, March 2023 data. Averages reflect the mix of packages sold on each technology; top full-fibre packages are far faster.
Speeds depend on your street, not just your provider. Enter your postcode to see every provider and speed available at your address.
TalkTalk sells broadband over Openreach and CityFibre networks: Fibre 35 and Fibre 65 (FTTC) packages, and full-fibre packages from around 75 Mbps up to 900 Mbps where available. Speeds on the same technology are broadly similar across providers, so what reaches your address matters more than the brand.
Test with a wired connection or next to the router first, as Wi-Fi range is the most common cause. On FTTC lines, distance from the street cabinet caps your speed; if you are on Fibre 35/65 and full fibre has reached your street, upgrading will make a bigger difference than any troubleshooting.
TalkTalk follows Ofcom’s speeds code of practice: you are quoted a guaranteed minimum at sign-up, and if your line consistently falls below it and can’t be fixed within 30 days, you can exit penalty-free.
Out-of-contract prices rise sharply. Compare deals at your postcode, you may get full fibre at a lower price than your old part-fibre package, and One Touch Switch handles the move automatically.
